We are especially excited to tell you about this year’s Heinz Ketchup Creativity Contest. It has all the ingredients to make learning about food and nutrition fun and rewarding. And because it’s built around America’s favorite brand of Ketchup, it’s sure to be a big hit at your schools and popular with students and parents. We’re providing everything you need to make a splash in your school district. Use our handy tools to help spread the word about Ketchup Creativity. You can bring national recognition and exciting rewards to your schools and students.

Here’s all you need to know:

  • The contest is open to students in grades 1 – 12.
  • Teachers submit their students’ designs for Heinz® Ketchup packets.
  • Contest entry materials are available. Included are grade-specific lesson plans with fun activities designed to enhance students’ learning about food, art and nutrition in the classroom.
  • Entries must be postmarked between January 5, 2009 and February 29, 2009.
  • Celebrity judge, pop artist Burton Morris will select the top three finalists in each grade.
  • America will choose the 12 grand prize winners by voting online for their favorites.
  • The winners will be announced on or around March 31, 2009.
  • Each winner’s art will be printed on approximately 19.5 million Heinz® Ketchup packets!
  • The winners also receive a $1,000 cash prize and their art showcased online in the Heinz Winners’ Gallery.
  • The winners’ schools receive $1,000 worth of Heinz® Ketchup; $1,000 toward art supplies, and a framed poster of the winner’s art.
Here are some tools to get started:
Contest flier and poster. Distribute the fliers to art teachers and principals; post it in teachers’ lounges, in-boxes, and in other common areas for teachers and school administrators.
School district Web site(s). Post an announcement about the contest on your school nutrition home page. Include a link to KetchupCreativity.com.
School newsletters. Inform parents about your schools’ participation in the program and show your schools’ commitment to creativity in the classroom.
