Heinz Ketchup Creativity™ Contest 2008-2009

Now in its third year, Heinz invites schools nationwide to help students make a big splash in the world of art by participating in the 2009 Heinz Ketchup Creativity Contest. This artistic, educational and rewarding program allows students to put their love of Ketchup and creativity to the test for a chance at having their art printed on nearly 19.5 million Heinz® Ketchup packets. And that’s not all.

This year’s contest is packing more excitement into every packet with activities that make learning about food and nutrition fun and exciting. The winners also will receive a $1,000 cash prize for the creative achievement. Schools benefit too! They receive a $1,000 award for art supplies, $1,000 worth of Heinz® Ketchup, and the winner’s art framed for display.

2009 Heinz Ketchup Creativity™ Contest Official Rules:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

To Enter: Teachers should utilize the contest entry materials (available online at www.ketchupcreativity.com) and send the contest entry form filling in the blanks with information about their school and the grade that they teach, along with their students’ contest artwork submissions, postmarked between January 5, 2009 and February 28, 2009 to: Heinz Ketchup Creativity™ Contest, c/o Quest Fore, P.O. Box 42366, Pittsburgh, PA 15203. Entries must be postmarked by Entries must be postmarked by February 28, 2009 and received by March 6, 2009. Teachers may enter students’ submissions as often as they like, but only one prize will be awarded per person (Twelve (12) winners total). The Contest begins on January 5, 2009 and ends on February 28, 2009. The public vote will be open (March 20, 2009 to March 25, 2009. Sponsor is not responsible for and will not honor lost, late, damaged, misdirected, illegible, incomplete or postage due entries/mail.

Judging: All eligible entries received will be judged by a panel of independent experts and Heinz employees based on the following judging criteria: 50% on creativity, 25% on originality and 25% on the clarity of the artwork. The judges will review each submission, as they deem appropriate in their sole discretion. The decisions of the judges are final and binding. There will be three stages of judging: from all the eligible contest submissions, the panel will narrow the selections to a group of 120 finalists (10 from each grade). From the 120 finalists, an independent expert (artist Burton Morris) will select the top 3 entries in each grade (36 total). The grand prize winners of the Contest (1 per grade) will be selected from the pool of 36 finalists by public vote via www.ketchupcreativity.com. Voting will be open from 12:00:00 A.M. Eastern Time (ET) March 20, 2009 to 11:59:59 P.M. Eastern Time (ET) March 25, 2009.

Sponsor reserves the right to alter a winner’s artwork to conform with color accuracy and printing requirements. Submission of an entry grants Sponsor and its agents the right to publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify such entry in any way, in any and all media, without limitation. Submission of any entry further constitutes the entrant’s consent to irrevocably assign and transfer to the sponsor any and all rights, title and interest in entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights. Entries: must be the original work of the entrant; may not have won previous awards; may not have been published previously; and must be suitable for publication. Judging will be completed on or around March 25, 2009.

Prizes: Twelve (12) Grand Prizes: each prize consists of (a) having winner’s packaging artwork printed on a minimum of 19.5 million Heinz® Ketchup packets, (b) $1,000.00 worth of Heinz Ketchup and $1,000.00 toward the purchase of art supplies for each winner’s school, (c) a $1,000.00 cash prize for each of the winning students, and (d) one (1) poster of the winner’s artwork for each winner’s school (Total Approximate Retail Value of each Prize: $200). Artwork will be used in a manner, number and length of time as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. No compensation, other than as outlined herein, shall be paid in connection with use of artwork. Winners will be notified by registered mail on or before March 31, 2009. The prize will be awarded in the name of the parent/legal guardian who must sign and return a notarized Release on behalf of winner within seven (7) days of notification. All taxes on prizes, if any, are the responsibility of the winners. Prizes may not be transferred. No prize substitutions except as provided herein. No cash redemptions. If for any reason, prize cannot be awarded as stated herein, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Limit one prize per person. General Conditions: Contest is open to U.S. school students who are enrolled in grades 1 through 12. All Employees of the H.J. Heinz Company, its affiliates, agencies, and the independent judging organization, and the immediate families (parent, child, sibling or spouse) and household members of each are not eligible. Submission of entry and parent/legal guardian’s written consent, constitutes permission to use (and to confirm such use in writing) winner’s name, phrase, city, state, photo and/or likeness for advertising, trade purposes and promotional use, in any and all media now known or hereinafter invented, without further compensation, except where prohibited or as restricted by law. The H.J. Heinz Company, its directors, employees, agents, successors and/or assigns and their advertising and promotional agencies assume no responsibility or liability for damages, losses or injury resulting from the acceptance, possession or use/misuse of any prize or participation in this Contest or any prize related activity. All entries will become property of Sponsor and will not be returned.

Winners’ List: The first name of the winners and home city will be posted on the website within one month of the end of the contest and judging, and the winner’s first name, grade, school, and state will be printed on the Heinz® Ketchup packets.
